Speaking during the Bangalore Literature festival recently, the former Karnataka batsman added that everyone would have a different opinion as to when Dhoni should retire.
“People might have different opinions on when Dhoni should retire. But, if the selectors have selected him, he can play for India as long as he wants,” Dravid had said to The Times of India.
"Don't be critical of just Virat and Dhoni. Even Ashish Nehra is getting to decide when he will retire. That's being unfair to Virat and Dhoni,” he had said during the same event.
Virat Kohli-led Team India will take on Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in the first of the three T20s, starting at Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delkhi on Wednesday.
The opening match is all set to become pacer Ashish Nehra’s farewell match for India, after he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on October 12.
The first match will be followed by the second and third T20s on November 4 and November 7. India have never defeated New Zealand in a T20 match.
