Mumbai: India’s entertaining top-order batsman Rohit Sharma was the main star for the hosts in their 224-run win against West Indies at the Brabourne Stadium here on Monday.

Rohit, who played a knock of 162 runs, looked set to slam his fourth double century in ODIs, but was dismissed by Ashley Nurse towards the end of the Indian innings as the hosts piled up a massive total of 377-5.

It was in a rare instance when captain Virat Kohli failed to step up and was dismissed for just 16 runs.

During the Windies’ run chase, when Rohit was fielding near the boundary rope, the spectators started chanting ‘Rohit Rohit’ after which the 31-year-old gestured by showing the India jersey asking them to chant ‘India India’ instead.

The hosts now lead the five-match series 2-1 with the second encounter ending in a thrilling tie, and will look to seal the series when the two teams come head-to-head during the fifth and final ODI in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.
