Bale likely to leave Madrid soon - media reports
According to ABC media, the 29 year old was looking forward to wear Madrid’s all white until 2022, seeing the fulfilment of his contract.
Mumbai: Frustrated by the consistently disappointing performances of Welsh player Gareth Bale at the club, President Florentino Perez and Coach Zinedine Zidane have shown Bale the door out.
According to ABC media, the 29-year-old was looking forward to wearing Madrid’s all white until 2022, seeing the fulfilment of his contract.
Gareth Bale was infamous for being the most expensive transfer when he moved from Tottenham Hotspurs to Real Madrid for 100.8 million Euros back in January 2016. It wasn’t until August the same year when a 105 million Euros move for Paul Pogba broke Bale’s record.
While Bale was present at his last game which also happened to be Real Madrid’s last La Liga match of the season against Real Betis, Zidane had the number 11 benched throughout the match, not letting Bale bid farewell to his fans one last time, reported the AS.
“It’s true, I didn’t let him say goodbye. I am sorry for that,” said a regretting Zidane in a press conference. “But no one knows what’s really going to happen. I have to take things on a daily basis and when I see something which doesn’t work, I have to do what I think is right,” he added.
AS further added, Perez has set Bale’s transfer price to about 78 to 90 million. According to L’Equipe, Bale earns 33 million a year, making him an expensive asset to any team looking forward to making an offer.
Clubs including Paris Saint Germain, Manchester United and even Bale’s last team Tottenham Hotspurs will be eyeing the player’s moves through the summer transfer window.
The Welsh player had 58 assists and 56 goals in 203 appearances to his name at Tottenham, before moving to Madrid where he racked up 64 assists and drilled 102 goals during his stay in 231 appearances for the club.
