BBC producers have reportedly put Frank Lampard top of their wish list for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing and TV insiders say he is seriously considering the offer. The footballer, 38, who hung up his footie boots in February, would be following in his wife Christine Bleakley’s foxtrotting footsteps if he appeared on the hit show. Christine danced in the sixth series of Strictly and finished in fifth place.

A source told The Sun: “It’s the time of year when the wish list is being drawn up and Frank Lampard is one of the names that ticks all the boxes. They would love to have him on board so we will see how things progress in the coming weeks. He has impressed people with his hilarious appearances on Play To The Whistle and comes across as a natural for a big TV series like Strictly.” The former Chelsea and England footballer has been pursuing a career in broadcasting since he quit the beautiful game. He is currently starring in ITV’s sport comedy panel show Play To The Whistle and has made an appearance on Loose Women when Christine was hosting the chat show.
