FOMAA donates Rs 1 lakh for Kovalam stadium project

FOMAA, representing over 70 Malayalee associations with 200,000 members in USA and Canada, meets every two years in Kerala.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Federation of Malayalee Associations of Americas (FOMAA) at its convention here on Friday donated Rs 1 lakh towards Kovalam Football Club’s stadium project, offering further aid as the project picks up.       FOMAA, representing over 70 Malayalee associations with 200,000 members in USA and Canada, meets every two years in Kerala. KFC has signed a long lease with M V Higher Secondary School and will develop their football grounds into a stadium of international standard. Dr Shashi Tharoor, MP, has 
offered Rs 25 L towards  the project.

KFC hostel, inaugurated in May in a rented home, now houses 17 boys. The search is  on for a site to build own hostel. Prof. Kailath of Stanford University and Mathew/Sally Foundation have donated Rs 25 lakh each for the project.
The campus plan comprises a football school, stadium, hostel and club houses, together estimated more than Rs 3 crore. The project aims at helping 20 children from economically weaker sections to acquire a University degree and also develop an indigenous football team of high standards.
