Well done 'champ': Virat Kohli congratulates Sunil Chhetri and co after win vs Kenya
India will take on New Zealand on Thursday in their third and final group game in Mumbai.
Mumbai: Team India captain Virat Kohli recently backed Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri’s plea encouraging fans to go to the stadium and watch the country’s ongoing Intercontinental Cup matches.
As a result, the entire stadium was sold out just hours before India’s kick off against Kenya here at the Mumbai Football Arena.
Chhetri, playing his 100th match for India, scored a brace as the hosts beat Kenya 3-0 to book a place in the final.
The 29-year-old Kohli took to Twitter to congratulate the Indian football team on their achievement and was all praise for ‘champ’ Sunil Chhetri.
The last two years have been fantastic for @IndianFootball and last night again they showed that they mean business. A great 3 nil victory over Kenya. Well done champ @chetrisunil11!! #INDvKEN, the talismanic skipper wrote on Twitter.
