2018 FIFA World Cup: Cristiano Ronaldo's freekick vs Spain sends Twitter upside-down
Social media went crazy after the Portugese talisman's match winning goal in Sochi.
Sochi: Cristiano Ronaldo is the talk of the town following his late freekick goal helped his side clinch a 3-3 draw against Spain in the 2018 FIFA World Cup game in Sochi on Friday. The striker stepped up and delivered when his side needed the all important goal to tie the game.
The 33-year-old Real Madrid star took the field after the news broke out about him being awarded two years in prison and was asked to pay a 18.8 million euro ($21.8 million) fine in a tax evasion case by Spanish authorities.
After twice giving Portugal the lead, the strijker saw his team conceding goals, as Spain striker Diego Costa found the back of the net twice. Nacho gave the lead to La Roja (3-2) as his volley went into the goal after hitting the goalpost.
Cristiano Ronaldo used the grandest stage to show everyone he's the greatest of all time (GOAT). He perfectly placed free kick in the 88th-minute giving Spanish goalkeeper De Gea no chance and help his team share spoils. With that goal he also scored the first hattrick of the tournament.
