London:Two second half goals from star forward Alexis Sanchez helped Arsenal secure a 2-0 home win over relegated Sunderland in the Premier League,  and keep their Champions League hopes alive on Tuesday night at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal created numerous chances throughout the game, but initially struggled to find a way past impressive Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

However, Pickford was unable to prevent Sanchez from delivering Arsenal the win, as Sanchez was left with an easy finish by Mesut Ozil with 18 minutes left on the clock, before adding a second in the 81st minute, reported Goal.com.

Despite having 36 attempts on goal, the Gunners could not wipe out fourth-placed Liverpool's superior goal difference.

Arsenal are a point behind Liverpool - who are two goals better off - ahead of Sunday's final Premier League matches.

However, a win over seventh-placed Everton on Sunday will be enough for Arsene Wenger's men to secure Champions League football, if Liverpool lose to Middlesbrough on Sunday, while a draw could still do the trick for the Gunners.
