Grigg selection in UEFA top list turns heads
The footballer did not feature in any of the matches in Euro 2016.
Mumbai: Northern Ireland footballer Will Grigg was one among the 37 players short-listed for UEFA’s ‘Best Player in Europe Award’. The list was prepared by journalists from each of 55-member associations.
Grigg, who did not feature in any of the matches in the European Championship this year, is a surprise selection.

On top of that, he is placed above Paul Pogba (France) and Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang (Gabon).
According to reports, Grigg received the same number of votes as Pogba and Aubamenyang, but lost steam gradually.
Grigg scored 28 goals in 40 appearances for Wigan Athletic helping them gain promotion in English championship.
The three finalists will be named on August 5 and then, the jury will decide the winner. It will be announced on August 25 during the Champions League group stage draw in Monaco.
