Bikash Jairu started the onslaught, Trinidad and Tobago import Willis Deon Plaza scored a brace while Haitian Wedson Anselme also netted one to confirm East Bengal's top three I-League finish.

Keeping in view the Federation Cup East Bengal senior players like Robin Singh, Arnab Mondal and Lalrindika Ralte. Mehtab Hossain and Romeo Fernandes played their part after substitutions. East Bengal displayed their physical advantage early by winning aerial duals and in the eighth minute they got the desired lead. An unmarked Jairu blasted a powerful left footer over goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani.

Mumbai FC kept attacking in pursuit of an equaliser but reached close only after half an hour of play with Victorino Fernandes heading just wide. East Bengal strengthened lead when Plaza took advantage of some sloppy passing to slot home. Jairu returned the favour of first goal assist to Anselme in the second half and the Haitian made no mistake to finish it clinically in the 62nd minute.
