The 2020 Euro runner up England will face Switzerland in the quarterfinals of the Euro 2024 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The first two quarter finals went into extra time, with one match decided after penalty shootouts.
Switzerland defeated the defending champions Italy to enter quarters. They had a comfortable 2-0 win over Azzurri in the round of 16. Italy were able to comeback against Croatia but they failed against the Swiss team. Switzerland scored both the goals by 46 minutes and they were able to hold the lead till the last second.
Meanwhile, England who were thought to be knocked out from the tournament made a comeback in the round of 16 match against Slovakia. England were trailing by a goal but in the injury time Bellingham scored the equaliser and Harry Kane's goal in extra time helped the team to progress into quarters.
England hadn't been their best in this tournament but their win against Slovakia may be a turning point for them. Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden are England's key players. However, Switzerland has been in tremendous form over their last matches and they are a tough nut to crack.
England is a better squad on paper compared to Switzerland and they may win against the Swiss. It won't be surprising if the game goes into extra time.
