Hyderabad: 'Dada', as fans lovingly call him Sourav Ganguly celebrates his 52 birthday today. Wishes poured for the India former captain as he turned a year older on Monday.
The BCCI also released a special poster for the former BCCI president. On his special day, let's travel back in time and look at some of his unbeaten records.
The 'Royal Bengal Tiger' as he is popularly known is the only Indian captain to win a test series in Pakistan against the men-in-green. Ganguly also holds the record for the highest individual score in a world cup match. He scored 183 runs against Sri Lanka in the 1999 World Cup.
The Bengal Prince also holds the record for the most number of centuries in Champions Trophy. He had scored 3 centuries in the tournament, which is a joint record for the most centuries in the tournament. His 117 in the Champions Trophy finals is also unbeaten as the highest individual score in a final of the tourney.
Along with Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, he holds the record for the highest partnership runs in World Cup History. He scored more than 8,000 runs with Sachin in the World Cup, which is the most by any pair in world cricket. With Dravid, he scored more than 300 runs in the 1999 World Cup, which is highest by an Indian pair and second highest in the world.
The left-handed batter also holds the record for winning the most number of Man of the match (MOTM) awards consecutively. He won 4 MOTM awards in a row.
Apart from his batting prowess, Ganguly is also known for his fearless captaincy and promoting talented young cricketers like Dhoni.
