Hyderabad: Hyderabad fans were left heartbroken as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fell short in the IPL 2024 final against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The high-stakes match, held at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, saw KKR clinch victory, leaving SRH supporters distraught.

Special screenings were organised in various city pubs, clubs and housing societies, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation. However, as the match progressed, the mood turned gloomy as SRH, which batted first, kept losing wickets.

"I can't believe that we lost," said Anil Kumar, a longtime SRH supporter. "We were so close, we broke IPL records and T20 records, and it all just slipped away.”

The defeat was painful given the strong support the team commands. Fans gathered in large numbers, donning their team's orange jerseys and waving flags, hoping to witness a historic win.

"It's disappointing, really," said Satwika Reddy, who watched the match at a screening in her township in Miyapur. "The team played so well throughout the season. We were all hoping for a win tonight but this was so difficult to see", she said.

Despite the loss, some fans tried to stay positive and expressed their appreciation for the team's efforts. "Hard luck today but thank you for the wonderful memories SRH," a person remarked on X.

"This season will be remembered for batting performances and the brand of cricket we played. From bottom last year to play finals that's some achievement! We move on."
