Chandigarh lead, Bengaluru 2nd from bottom
The second day of the Louis Philippe Cup sprung more surprises.
Bengaluru: The second day of the Louis Philippe Cup sprung more surprises, and in favour of the home team as Abhijit Chadha produced a scorching display to help Zion Hills Bengaluru climb to tied-second at the Karnataka Golf Association on Thursday. With heavy rains lashing the city through the night, the course inevitably slowed down and saw several ups and downs. Overnight leaders Dev Chandigarh held on to the lead with a five-under-139 for a total of 13-under-275.
Unlike the opening day, the second round saw Sujjan Singh in his element to help Chandigarh hold on to to a five-shot lead. Singh along with Chadha shot the day’s best score of five-under-67. Three shots behind Chandigarh, tied for second place is home team Bengaluru along with defending champions Navratna Ahmedabad for total scores of eight-under-280.
Singh came to Chandigarh’s rescue as Himmat Rai couldn’t sustain the opening day’s momentum. Rai had a meltdown on the day as he turned in a card of 3-over-75. Team-mate Amardip Malik turned in the second best score for the team, with an even-par round. Sujjan, turned in a blemish-free card started with a birdie, followed by two more on the 4th and 9th holes. Meanwhile, Take Chennai along with Laqshya Mumbai slipped to tied-fourth while debutants NSports Hyderbad moved up one spot to seventh
