Telangana Open Snooker Championship: Sridhar, Ramakanth win thrillers

Hyderabad: It was neck and neck contests for Sridhar and S. Ramakanth to win while it was an easy victory for Shaik Shukoor on Wednesday in the Telangana Open Snooker Championship being played here.
Shaik Shukoor defeated Farhan Tumbi as the scoreline read 3-0 with the frame scores registering 42-39, 53-7, 87-19. The first frame was a narrow margin win for Shukoor as he could pocket decent points — the result of first frame was 42-39.
But, in the next two frames Shukoor made it really tough for Farhan to pick points as the latter had a harrowing time on the table. The second and the third frame were totally in Shukoor’s pocket with 53-7 and 87-19 verdicts respectively.
Meanwhile, in another match, Sridhar clinched a thrilling encounter against Gowtham as the scoreline read 3-2 (38-61, 30-42, 72-32, 61-46, 43-35).
The first two frames were won by Gowtham and it was the time for Sridhar to get knocked off, the latter bounced back with all his power to win the third frame with score posted 72-32.
Still being deficit with a frame, he kept fighting hard by keeping his opponent away from the table. He won the fourth frame as well with 61-46 tally. Boosted by back-to-back frames victories. Bolstered with his confidence, Sridhar kept the winning streak intact and won the final frame with 43-35 score to have last laugh.
In another match, S. Ramakanth beat G. Kiran Kumar 3-2 with the frame scores 80-27, 43-63, 49-15, 29-52, 57-19. Ramakanth and Kiran were heading in a close encounter however the former emerged winner.
