Twins Sasya and Laasya Subramanyam came up with a decent performance to bag bronze medals in the girls Under 17 doubles at the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) National Table Tennis Championship held at the Navrachana Higher Secondary School in Vadodara, Gujarat, recently.

Sasya and Laasya — both XI standard students representing the Secunderabad Public School in West Marredpally — made a brilliant run to the business end of the tournament by vanquishing their opponents on the way but could not continue their winning streak. They went down to Delhi Public School (Mathura Road) by a narrow 2-3 margin in a keenly fought semifinals.

However, all was not lost. Sasya ensured the School had at least one top trophy as she teamed up with Yash Nair to stun the top seed pair of Subh and Bidisha 3-2 in the mixed doubles finals to emerge champions. Sasya and Laasya are promising players on the table tennis circuit and have been regularly winning tournaments at the district, state and national levels of late.
