Records tumble, Khyati Vakharia sets new standards

Bengaluru: Khyati Vakharia set led the show on the third and final day of the state junior and senior athletics championship with a new meet record at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday.

Khyati, who represents MR Sports Foundation, rewrote her own record of 3.40 meters in pole vault set four years ago, clearing 3.70 meters. The same event provided three more records on the day as Pavithra, Nayan and Srimanth H all set new standards.

Alva’s Pavithra, in U-20 category, cleared 2.71 meters, .01 meters more than Preethi’s record set in 2013 while Srimanth H blew past Samarth S Hegde’s 3.35m with an effort of 3.70 meters ub tge U-18 boys category.

In the U-20 boys, Nayan set new standards in the event clearing 3.75 meters.
Other meet records on the day include, HS Arpitha (5000M, U-18 girls) and Abhijeet Singh (Decathlon, U-18).

In the 100M sprint event for men and women, Radesh MG and HM Jyothi emerged the fastest.
