Former national hockey player Mukesh Kumar booked under SC/ST atrocities act
A case is registered against him at Begumpet Police station, following a complaint from his juniors that he abused them with caste slur.
Hyderabad: Triple Olympian and former national hockey player, Mukesh Kumar was booked under SC/ST atrocities act. A case is registered against him at Begumpet Police station, following a complaint from his juniors that he abused them with caste slur.
The complainant Mr Nagaraju, national hockey player, in his complaint said that on February 6, he along with his friends Yashwanth and Santosh went to Gymkhana grounds for selections of CM Cup Hockey tournament and there they met N. Mukesh Kumar, who is also the Telangana Hockey Association General Secretary. Mukesh told them that they were not eligible to attend the selections citing their age and instructed them to leave the place. Later he and his friends moved from the place and started practising at a distance
“He came to us and started abusing us with foul language and even refered to my caste. He said that they could buy the National level certificate from the market and that we were not capable of even that and should leave the place immediately.” he said in the Complaint, adding that Mukesh even challenged them to take anybody’s help as none could do anything to him.
Based on Nagaraju’s complaint, Police registered a case against Mukesh under section 3 (1) (X) of Prevention of Atrocities against SC/ ST Act and started investigation. Mukesh was unavailable to comment.
