Lifetime award for Hyderabad Race Club chief

Mr R. Surender Reddy was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the glittering annual racing awards function.

Chennai: Mr R. Surender Reddy, chairman of the Hyderabad Race Club, was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the glittering annual racing awards function in Chennai on Saturday. Dr MAM Ramaswamy was declared the leading owner of the 2014-15 season. Mr A.C. Muthiah received the award on the late turf baron’s behalf. While Mallesh Narredu was declared the trainer of the year, rider P. Trevor was the jockey of the year.

The former attorney general and leading Supreme Court lawyer K. Parasaran’s services to horse racing in arguing before the Supreme Court and winning the argument that horse racing is indeed a sport of skill were recognised with a lifetime achievement award. Mr R. Ramakrishnan, Chairman, Madras Race Club, was inducted into racing’s Hall of Fame in recognition of his lifelong contribution to horse racing in Chennai and Bengaluru. As chairman of the Turf Authorities of India, he steered MRC into a hugely successful conduct of the Invitation Cup weekend at a vastly refurbished Guindy racecourse, the oldest in the country and which traces its history back to 1777.

Dr S.M. Karthikeyan, Secretarty, MRC, was made a permanent invitee to the Turf Authorities of India meetings. The felicitations were made at a grand din hosted by the MRC.
