TN sailor sweeps races at Secunderabad Club Youth regatta.
Hyderabad: Chitresh Thatta of Tamil Nadu Sailing Association stamped his class in the Optimist class at the Secunderabad Sailing Club-KPCT Youth Open Regatta by winning all three races on the opening day. Chitresh was given a tough fight by Harshita Tomar and Krishna Mongia in the first race which was sailed in about 10 knots of wind. He trailed Harshita for a whole triangle before using his superior tactical ability and boat speed to overtake her in the fourth leg of the race.
Chitresh had represented India at the 2014 Asian Games held in Incheon (South Korea) in the Optimist class which is the only class for children under the age of 15 years raced at this continental event. The second and third races were easier for Chitresh where he led from start to finish with Harshita and Navyn taking the second slots. The other notable performances of the day were those of Juhi Desai of Hyderabad who finished third in the last race of the day and Ashish Vishwakarma of National Sailing School, Bhopal, turning in a consistent performance to stand fourth. Four more races are lined-up on Friday in a gruelling day of sailing for children under 15 years. It should be a make or break day for the title aspirants.
