SBI to bring Vijender Singh, Amir Khan face-to-face?
Dosanjh launched the Super Boxing League in an event here on Monday.
Mumbai: The much-awaited professional boxing fight between the British boxing ace of Pakistan origin Amir Khan and Indian Olympian Vijender Singh is still on, claims British businessman Bill Dosanjh.
Dosanjh launched the Super Boxing League in an event here on Monday. He is the founder and promoter of SBL while Khan is the co-promoter.
Khan will be the face of the event though he is unlikely to participate as a boxer.
The inaugural SBL will be held in New Delhi from July 7 to August 12 while the second season has been planned in Mumbai.
“We are pursuing the fight between Vijender and Amir Khan. We want to make that happen and we will ensure that happens. It will be a promotional bout,” Dosanjh said about the two professional boxers.
Olympic silver medallist and the two time world champion Khan couldn’t take the flight after his doctors’ advise as the boxer injured his wrist during a training session in Dubai. He is likely to be here though on Tuesday.
The event does not have Boxing Federation of India backing and may struggle to rope in Indian amateur boxers but the organisers are confident of getting
the best.
