Thiruvananthapuram: India’s ace steeplechaser Sudha Singh clinched gold in the 3,000m event at the Asian Athletics Championship in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. The 31-year-old clocked an impressive 9:59.47 to win Gold and qualify for the World Championship scheduled next month.

In the absence of world and Asian record-holder Ruth Jebet and Lalita Babar, the field was set for Sudha to strike and she did so in convincing style as DPR Korea’s Hyo Gyong finished a distant second on 10:13.94 and Japan’s Nana Sato claimed bronze on 10:18.11.
