Sports, games competitions for workers on May 22, 23

HANAMKONDA: Several welfare programmes for workers were being taken up in May as part of the ‘Karmika Chaithanya Masam’ and sports and games competitions would also be held on May 22 and 23 for the workers, informed government chief whip and Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar.
Speaking to the media here in Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Hanamkonda on Saturday, Vinay Bhaskar said recently a mega health camp had been organised which was inaugurated by health minister T. Harish Rao during which various medical tests were conducted on around 510 workers. After identifying some of the workers suffering from serious health complications, they were shifted to Hyderabad for providing better medical services, he added.
The state government was striving hard to address problems faced by people working in various departments like RTC, railways and other sectors, along with the public representatives in coordination with the officials of respective departments, he said.
Steps were also being taken for providing life insurance to the workers and to their family members apart from other facilities on behalf of the state government, he assured.
The competitions in Kabaddi, caroms, chess, athletics, shuttle and other events would be held on behalf of the state government’s labour and district sports authority departments here at JNS Stadium in Hanamkonda on May 22 and May 23. Interested persons along with their teams should enrol the names at the JNS Stadium to participate in sports and games competitions, he appealed.
District libraries department chairman and Kabaddi association secretary Aziz Khan, deputy commissioner of labour department Samuel, convenor of Karmika Chaitanya Sadassu Pulla Srinivas, district sports officer Ashok and corporator Vemula Srinivas were among those who were present.
