Among those facing alleged financial woes are Jaypee Punjab Warriors, Uttar Pradesh Wizards and Delhi Waveriders, with the latter yet to pay its players full salaries for the 2017 season.

New Delhi: As the race for the semifinals heats up, bottom-placed Delhi Waveriders will look to continue their winning momentum when they host leaders Dabang Mumbai in their Hockey India League-5 match here on Wednesday.

Rupinderpal Singh-led Delhi will feel confident going into Wednesday’s match, having beaten Uttar Pradesh Wizards and Kalinga Lancers by big margins in their last two home games.

The hosts, however, know they cannot afford to slip further. “We have four games left in the league. The one against Dabang Mumbai will be an important one and will keep our chances of making the semis intact,” said Rupinderpal here.
Mumbai, on the other hand, will look to continue their rich form this year having secured a place in the semi-finals already. Second-placed Kalinga are on 23 points, while the rest are also closely placed — Ranchi (18), Punjab (17), Uttar Pradesh (15) and Delhi (15).
