World Dwarf Games: India hit jackpot with record 37 medals

Toronto: The Indian contingent for the World Dwarf Games had a special gift for their country on its Independence Day – they gifted India with as many as 37 medals from the games, which were held in Toronto, Canada.

Incredibly, the Indians managed to secure a top-10 finish in the tournament, having clinched 15 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals at the event.

Their incredible feat even earned them a felicitation from Indian consulate general Dinesh Bhatia.

The event was held over a week at the University of Guelph in the Ontario province of Canada, featuring as many as 400 athletes from across 24 different countries.

Joby Matthew was the largest exponent of medals for India, bagging two golds, three silvers and a bronze.
