Heavy rainfall: Koramangala Indoor stadium ok, shooting academy hit
The flooding damaged the wood and the kits (shooting jackets and other apparel) that were left behind by the students.
Bengaluru: The heavy rainfall earlier this week that caused huge damages across the city left its mark on the Koramangala Indoor stadium as well.
Thankfully, the stadium, despite being located at one of the worst affected places in the city and the drainage from the stadium being clogged up, escaped severe damages, save for the cleaning process, following water seepage, which will take a further three days at least to complete according to the workers.
The gymnastic hall and wrestling mats, meanwhile have been drenched in water.
However, it is the Nishaan Sports Shooting Academy, a private academy inside the stadium, that bore the brunt.
The flooding damaged the wood and the kits (shooting jackets and other apparel) that were left behind by the students.
In addition, two rifles, which are used by the students to train and costing upwards of Rs 1.5 lakh apiece, were also damaged.
“We have 30-35 students who train here and use the rifles that are now damaged. So there has not been any training here this week,” said Kushal S.K, who coaches at the academy.
“Few of our students were supposed to go for competitions but their kit got wet so no-one of them have gone,” he added.
