Charlotte: While most of his NBA colleagues are not fully clued in about the trip to India in October involving pre-season games between Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers, the Kings’ Buddy Hield has got his plans well laid out, thanks to his television watching habits.

“It’s the culture,” he says when asked about what strikes him about India.

“I got to see some of the temples, there are a lot of them that fascinate me. Isn’t there a Golden Temple there as well?” he asks before letting out his source. “I watch the National Geographic channel,” he giggles.

“I also learnt that the population is big and there are many languages in the cities of India. I want to see the people and the way of life there... also eat some curries,” the 26-year-old says.

Hield also knows about the cricket field. “Don’t you play cricket down there? The game’s big in the Bahamas (his country) too,” he laughs.

Asked what the fans in India can expect, the 6-foot-4-inch player said: “We will come there and give out our best to showcase our talent which is shooting the ball, dunking and passing it. I just have some fun and soak in the excitement and inspire the kids out there to be NBA players in future.”

What would be his advice to youngsters? “Never give up. Keep working and always give God the praise. If you put in hard work, the results will show. No matter who you are, a doctor, lawyer, firefighter just keep working hard and everything will work out,” he said.
