Telanagana athletes strike silver at Nationals

While Maheshwari came second in the women's 3,000 metres steeple chase clocking 11:02.16.

Hyderabad: Telanagana athletes G. Maheshwari and Anuj secured silver medals at the 16th Fed Cup National Junior Athletics Championships conducted by Athletics Federation Of India which concluded at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Coimbatore on Sunday.

While Maheshwari came second in the women’s 3,000 metres steeple chase clocking 11:02.16, Anuj cleared 4.50 metres in pole vault to finish behind Dhirendra Kumar of Uttar Pradesh who won with a clearance of 4.80 metres, the same mark as the meet record incidentally set by S. Siva of Hyderabad back in 2015.

Girls 16-20 years 3,000m steeplechase: 1. Komal Jagdale (Maharashtra) 10:55.58, G. Maheshwari (Telangana) 11:02.16, 3. Priyanka Kasana (Rajasthan) 11:08.83.

Boys 16-20 years pole vault: 1. Dhirendra Kumar (Uttar Pradesh)  4.80 metres, 2. Anuj (Telangana) 4.50m, 3. Yogesh Sakthivel (Tamil Nadu) 4.40m.
