Ahmed calls shots at SZ meet

Ansari, Darius Chenai too among medals at shotgun event.

Hyderabad: Local shooters KMA Ansari and Ahmed Ali Khan did well at the XI South Zone Shooting Championships in shotgun (NR & ISSF) events held in Hyderabad.

The shooting parade started with the Junior Men Individual category of the Clay Pigeon Trap Shooting (Nr) Championship, where  Ahmed Ali Khan of Telangana bagged gold with 37 points, followed by Tamil Nadu’s Nitheilan Kumaar with 34 points.

Later, KMA Ansari, a domicile of Telangana, pulled off gold by shooting 103 points in individual category of Clay Pigeon Trap Shooting Veterans Men (ISSF) Championship.

Srisudhan Sakthivel of Tamil Nadu also emerged champion, in the Clay Pigeon Trap Shooting (Nr) Championship men’s índividual category with 40 points to his credit. His statemate N. B. Vignesh Krishna also logged in 40 points to be second while Anjan Sreenivas of Karnataka took bronze with 39 points.

In the Junior Women’s individual category of the same event, V. Srinithi Malavika (38) beat S. Suganya Senthilkumar (23) with a margin of 15 points.

Meanwhile, Md Omer Bin Jung of Karnataka clinched gold in the Clay Pigeon Trap Shooting Men (ISSF) Championship Individual category by pocketing 41 points. E. Nathaniel Karuna Hudson from Tamil Nadu and Darius Chenai of Telangana came second and third with 40 and 30 points respectively.

As many as 70 shotgun athletes participated in various categories at the championships.
