Warm welcome to paralympian T Mariappan in Salem

Mariappan, who won the gold medal in high jump in the Rio Paralympics, reached Chennai on Thursday and reached Salem on Saturday.

Salem: Gold medal winner at the Rio Paralympics, Mariappan Thangavelu, received a warm welcome in Salem on Saturday, with a large number of people gathering to receive him back home. Mariappan, who won the gold medal in high jump in the Rio Paralympics, reached Chennai on Thursday and reached Salem on Saturday.

The district collector V. Sambath welcomed him at Thoppur. Government officials including district sports officer K. Kanagaraj, project director of DRDA Ms K. Kavitha and a large number of people gathered at the spot to shake hands and greet him.
