Senior National championship: Telangana volleyball teams start with spectacular wins

Hyderabad: Telangana men’s and women’s volleyball teams dished out brilliant performances at the ongoing Senior National championship, being held in Chennai.

Both the men and women’s teams started their campaign on an impressive winning note. The men’s team won their opening match in a thrilling encounter against Assam.

After losing their first game with a close score of 23-25, Telangana came back guns blazing to clinch the next three games with a brilliant show. Telangana edged past Assam as the final scoreline read 23-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-21.

In the other match against Pondichery, the Telangana men’s team emerged stronger again  take home a comfortable victory in three straight games. The team won with the magnificient score of 25-19, 25-18, 25-16. Anand, Yashwanth and Bhagyaraj were the star players to hog the limelight in the initial stage of the championship.

Meanwhile, the Telangana women’s team too began their championship campaign with a bang despite early shocks. After losing their first game, the women’s redoubled their efforts to overpower the formidable Tamil Nadu by displaying excellent teamwork. The final scores in the match read 18-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16. Rajitha, Sumathi and Athira were the top performers in the match.
