Throwball Federation of India to conduct throwball tourney
Kamal Goswami on Monday said that the Federation would organise Throwball Asian Championship.
VIJAYAWADA: The Throwball Federation of India (TFI) chairman Kamal Goswami on Monday said that the Federation would organise Throwball Asian Championship for the first time and the dates and venue would be decided at the TFI general body meeting to be held on Tuesday. TFI has membership in Asian Throwball Federation (ATF) but never conducted championship, he said.
Mr Goswami visited the ongoing 40th senior Throwball nationals being conducted at Vikas Group of Institutions in Nunna near Vijayawada on Monday. Speaking to mediapersons, he said the general body meeting would be held at Vikas College on Tuesday. Referring to senior nationals, he said best eight teams would be selected for the Throwball Federation Cup at Rajasthan next year and that they would also take part in the Federation Cup. In 2018, the senior nationals would be held at West Bengal. Mr Goswami expressed dissatisfaction over less than 1 per cent funds allocated for sports in the Union Budget. He appealed to the state government and Union government to encourage sports.
