Srikanth Kumar leads main fleet at Deloitte Monsoon Regatta 2017

Though it rained for a while, the wind condition was good for racing.

Hyderabad: The Deloitte Monsoon Regatta 2017, India’s largest sailing regatta which is in its ninth year, opened to a great start on Friday at the Yacht Club of Hyderabad. Though it rained for a while, the wind condition was good for racing. Sailors participated enthusiastically and enjoyed sailing in the two events held on the day — Omega and Optimist.

Morangapally Srikanth Kumar is leading the main fleet at the end of six races, with 39 points to his credit. He is followed by K. S. Anirudh, also with 39 points. Erra Durga Prasad is third having tallied 43 points at the regatta being organised by the Telangana Sailing Association. In the Omega Fleet, K. Chinna Reddy of the Royal Motor Yatch Club is on top with 3 points with teammate Abhimanyu Panwar a close second with 4 points. In the third position is Xerxes Bamboat of the Royal Bombay Yatch Club with 7 points.

As many as seven teams competed in the Omega Class. These include teams from Hyderabad, Mumbai (two teams each), Telangana, Vizag and Chennai.

Main Fleet: 1. Morangapally Srikanth Kumar 39 points, 2. K. S. Anirudh 39 points, 3. Erra Durga Prasad 43 points.

Omega Fleet: 1. K. Chinna Reddy (Royal Motor Yacht Club) 3 points, 2. Abhimanyu Panwar (Royal Motor Yacht Club) 4 points, 3. Xerxes Bamboat (Royal Bombay Yacht Club) 7 points.
