Sreekala R takes Thiruvananthapuram to quarters

Kottayam, Alappuzha, Kannur and Idukki have joined the capital in the last-eight in both boys and girls categories of state junior basketball.

Senior international Sreekala R. scored a game-high 25 points as Thiruvananthapuram defeated Kottayam 61-55 to enter the girls’ quarterfinals of 43rd state junior basketball championship at Shanthlal Jyothi Public School in Thodupuzha on Wednesday.

The capital city also booked the quarters in the boys’ category and guiding them to a narrow 61-58 win was NBA Academy product Pranav Prince, who scored 17 points.

On the third day, joining Thiruvananthapuram in the last-eight of the championship are Kottayam, Palakkad, Alappuzha, Idukki, Thrissur and Kannur, in the boys’ category and Thrissur, Kozhikode, Alappuzha, Kannur, Kottayam, Idukki and Wayanad in the girls’ event.
