Esha Singh shoots down three top medals

Esha won the 10 metre air pistol in Junior and Youth Women’s categories and finished second in the Women’s category.

Hyderabad: Telangana’s Esha Singh announced her spectacular rise with a scintillating peformance in a show that saw her take home two golds and a silver medal besides beating popular Olympian Manu Bhaker for the top spot in the Junior category of the Trial 5 selection at the Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Shooting Championship held in New Delhi.

Esha won the 10 metre air pistol in Junior and Youth Women’s categories and finished second in the Women’s category.

Esha’s efforts and training reflected in her scores as the 14-year-old acheived 238.5 in the junior women’s final, ahead of Yuvika Tomar of Uttar Pradesh and Sneha Bharadwaj (Haryana) who took silver and bronze respectively.

In the youth section, Esha chalked up 241.4 leaving behind Sneha Bharadwaj and Karishma Dagar of Haryana in the second and third positions.

The women’s top spot was just out of Esha’s reach. She logged in 238.9 behind winner Harveen Sarao (240.4) of Punjab to be content with a silver. Ruchita Vinekar took bronze with 217.6.

In the Trail 5 selection, Esha emerged on top beating Olympic quota winner Manu Bhaker against whom she maintained her lead right through the finals to win the competition.

With the latest performance Esha completed a hat-trick of three-medal performances. The Hyderabad girl has won against some best shooters in the senior circuit for the second time this year.

She will now take part in the Junior World Cup to be held in Shul, Germany, from July 12 to 20. The teenager is focused on her goal to win an Olympic medal one day and make the country proud though.
