Andhra Pradesh CS reviews preparations for conduct of sports festival
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government will conduct three lakh matches in five games including cricket, badminton, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, and events like marathons, yoga, and tennikoit as part of ‘Adudham Andhra’ from village to state level for 46 days beginning on Oct. 2 in the state.
Chief Secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy reviewed the arrangements for the conduct of the sports festival with the senior officials here on Monday. He said that 250 matches at state level, 312 matches in 26 districts, 5,250 matches in 175 Assembly segments, 1.42 lakh matches in 680 mandals, and 1.50 lakh matches at village/ward secretariat level would be held, and announced cash prizes at all levels, including at state-level, worth Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1 lakh, and Rs 50,000 for the first, second, and third prizes.
He called upon the officials to rope in the top players like Ambati Rayudu, Karanam Malleswari, P.V. Sindhu, and others as sports ambassadors to take part in the event and laid stress on making sports and games a part of the curriculum in educational institutions.
