Hyderabad: India captain and star opener Rohit Sharma was injured during a practice session ahead of the high-octane clash with rivals Pakistan in the T20 World Cup on Sunday.

According to reports, a ball hit Rohit's left thumb during a practice session in New York prompting quick medical assistance from the team staff. However, Rohit has resumed practice shortly and is doing fine.
The 37-year-old batter was also slightly injured in the match against Ireland after a ball struck his right shoulder due to uneven bounce of the pitch. But he attended the presentation ceremony, brushing away the injury scare and said "I'm doing good, it's just a little sore."
India will take on arch rivals Pakistan on June 9 (Sunday) at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The pitch of the newly built stadium is currently facing criticism. The dissatisfaction prompted the International Cricket Council's (ICC) intervention. Acknowledging problems, the governing body said it is "working hard" to fix the pitch at the newly built temporary stadium.
Confident Rohit Sharma, will be a key player to watch out for against the clash with the men-in-green on Sunday.
