Bengaluru: Having arrived in the city on last evening, Uzbekistan had their first practice session at the KSLTA courts on Sunday and their captain Petr Lebed revealed that the team is acclimatising to the conditions here.
“This is only our first day here. At the moment everything is fine. Conditions are a little different from Uzbekistan because of the altitude. And as for the weather...it’s 15 degrees right now in Tashkent. It’s a little bit hot here but we’re OK,” said Lebed.
With Farrukh Dustov, Sanjar Fayziev and reserve Jurabek Karimov already here, Lebed revealed that Denis Istomin is having some tests done for a foot injury but is expected to be here in a couple of days.
“He’s doing some tests in Tashkent. He was supposed to come with the team but then the doctor said he must stay for a few more days,” remarked the captain adding that Dustov is fit and ready to go after a six-month layoff and that they have faith of their younger stars.
Asked about the challenge that India pose, Lebed opined: “India is a very strong opponent. You’re playing a home tie. So you have an advantage. It will be a tough match. It’s a strong and good team.”
