Rio de Janeiro: Indian tennis contingent is still looking for the smooth start in the run up to the main draw of Rio Olympics. Veteran player Leander Paes – who will partner Rohan Bopanna in men’s doubles – is yet to reach the Games Village.

Most of the athletes have checked in on August 1 but there is still no sign of Paes.

Bopanna, as a result, is training with other players. It is not a good sign for the both of them haven’t played much tennis together and less of practise will only worsen the situation.

So, what is causing the problem?

According to reports, Paes told Indian Olympic Association that he isn’t keen to share a flat with Bopanna in the Village.

The duo last played together in the Davis Cup.

The All Indian Tennis Association knew that the duo do not share a great bond. In fact, Bopanna’s first choice was Saketh Myneni.

However, the 18-time mixed doubles/ doubles champion is expected to reach Rio by Thursday.
