Fenesta Open: Vishnu, Riya clinch top spoils

Seeded men's players continued to tumble at the National Tennis Championship with Delhi lad Kunal Anand packing third seed V.M. Ranjeet in the quarterfinals of the Fenesta Open here on Thursday.

New Delhi: Top seeds lived up to their billing as Vishnu Vardhan and Riya Bhatia bagged the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively in the Fenesta Open tennis championship at the DLTA complex here on Saturday.

On an action packed day, Vishnu served and volleyed well and mixed it up with some crisp groundstrokes to beat Siddharth Vishwakarma 6-3, 6-4.

In the ladies’ singles final, Delhi girl Bhatia used her retrieval tactics and counter-punching game  to win her maiden national title beating Eete Maheta 7-6, (9/7), 6-3.
