Karnataka government boost to Davis Cup tie
In keeping with the Indian team's request, the court is set to be a fast one.
Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association which will play host to the Davis Cup tie between India and Uzbekistan (April 7-9) received a shot in the arm with the government of Karnataka assuring monetary support to the tune of Rs one crore.
This will be the third time in the last four years the city will be hosting the Davis Cup. Speaking at an event, Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of Youth Empowerment and Sports of the government of Karnataka, stated: “It’s our endeavour to make Bengaluru a sports city and the government will provide one crore towards this tournament. (The) Tourism minister is also active in promoting this event. We will do everything from our end to make sure that the event is a success.”
With the tie just a couple of weeks away, Sunil Yajaman, chief organiser of the event, added that that they will be refurbishing the seating and corporate box while adding that the court will be relayed as well.
In keeping with the Indian team’s request, the court is set to be a fast one. The ties are set to be played under floodlights with timings being 3 pm and 6 pm.
The tickets will be up for sale in bookmyshow in a couple of days and also at the counter at the KSLTA.
