AP’s soft tennis teams leave for Odisha tourney

VIJAYAWADA: The coaching camp organised for women and men players of AP’s soft tennis team concluded here on Friday.

The camp has been jointly organised by NTR District Soft Tennis Association and Andhra Pradesh Soft Tennis Association at the Tennis Complex of Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in Vijayawada.

Speaking on the occasion, Soft Tennis Association chairman Daram Naveen Kumar said the men’s and women’s teams are fully fit and ready to participate in the 19th Senior Soft Tennis Championship being held at Bhubaneswar in Odisha from Sunday to March 23.

NTR District Sports Authority (DSA) chief coach S.A. Azeez presented sportswear to the senior men and women players. Azeez appreciated that several of these players have represented the Indian team. He exhorted the men's and women’s teams to do well so that they can get a chance to participate in the national games that will be organised in Goa later this year.

Subsequently, both the women’s and men’s teams left Vijayawada for Bhubaneswar to participate in the senior nationals.

Andhra Pradesh Soft Tennis Association general secretary D. Dilip Kumar, NTR district representative D. Satyanarayana, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) tennis coach Y. Siva Ramakrishna and coaches P. Isaq and Navin were among those present.
