Terror threat grips Pakistan amidst Champions Trophy: Reports

In a concerning development, Pakistan stepped up security measures amid the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy after its intelligence bureau reportedly warned of potential terror threat to foreign players and attendees.
Terror groups including Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), ISIS and ISKP -- Islamic State Khorasan Province are planning to kidnap international players and attendees, particularly Chinese and Arab nationals, the reports claimed.
According to media reports, the terror groups would target tourists staying at places where only auto rickshaws can go. They have also located places without CCTVs. Their motive as per the reports is to extract ransom.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is hosting an ICC tournament after more than 25-years, they last hosted the ICC WOrld Cup in 1996.
The Champions Trophy is currently underway in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where eight team take on each other to lift the coveted ICC trophy. With the win against the Rizwan-led side India have cemented their spot in the semi finals, while Pakistan's journey in the ICC showpiece event is almost over.
