Visakhapatnam: Union civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu has extended his support to para-badminton player Chapara Poorna Rao, who has been selected for an upcoming international para-badminton championship at Surakarta in Indonesia. Poorna Rao, a resident of Tekkali, has shown resilience, overcoming a severe spinal injury from a road accident to excel in para-badminton, earning seven international medals and currently ranking 33rd globally.

Poorna Rao approached the minister on August 4 for financial assistance for his trip to Indonesia. Responding promptly, Naidu emphasised that neither disability nor poverty should hinder talent. Within two days, he facilitated a sponsorship of Rs 1.5 lakh from Dream 11 sports organisation to cover Poorna Rao's expenses for the tournament.

In a heartfelt response, the 21-year-old athlete expressed gratitude for the minister's support and said, "I am confident that I will give my best to win a medal for our country." Poorna Rao's journey from adversity to athletic achievement serves as an inspiration, showcasing the potential of individuals with disabilities to succeed on international platforms.
