Taking the high-end headphones market to the next level, Switzerland-based TECA Technologies recently took the wraps off its latest ‘Luzli Roller Mk01’ headphones. They carry a boutique price-tag of US$3,000 and are designed in a manner that rolls neatly into a compact size to fit perfectly in one’s pockets.
Each Roller Mk01 headphone is individually hand-crafted in Switzerland by founder Andrew James Lee, who is most primarily inspired by Swiss watchmakers. The headphones are built using unique steel and 6061 aircraft-grade aluminium headband with 22 steel springs that are reported to help mold the headband onto the user’s head seamlessly. "During the development we were testing over 50 different acoustic foams to ensure to have the best sound," the company told NewsAtlas. "For us it was important that the headphone folds small and becomes very portable so the sound development was about creating the best sound in a small space," they added. On the specifications front, the on-ear luxury headphones feature 30mm dynamic drivers with guaranteed balanced-sound and an impedance of 32Ohms, 114dB SPL and a total harmonic distortion of less than 0.5 per cent. According to the company, the sound signature (delivered by Luzli Roller Mk01) is very warm and is perfect for vocals, jazz and classical.
These pricey ear candies come in a wooden presentation box and are only available directly from the manufacturer. The Luzli Roller Mk01 are scheduled to be showcased at the CanJam audio expo at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on July 15 and 16. “From the initial idea to the current manufacture has taken nearly a decade to perfect the ergonomic shapes combined with the best sound, and involved a host of different experts in materials, sound engineering, tool making and ergonomics. The perseverance has paid off and Roller offers its user a unique experience, excellent acoustics and a stunning innovative construction,” the company wrote in a blogpost.
