The Surface Go is essentially a 10-inch tablet that's built around an Intel Pentium Gold Processor along with 4GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB of EMMC storage/128GB of SSD.

A few weeks ago, Microsoft unveiled the Surface Go — their smallest, lightest and most importantly, the cheapest Surface device they have ever made. The device has been made available for the international markets, meant to compete with the likes of Apple’s iPad (2018) and Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S4. However, with the other two brands making their presence felt in the affordable tablet market in India, it seems that Microsoft could soon step into the space to garb a pie of the Indian market.

According to a report by MySmartPrice, Microsoft has been sending invites for an event on August 7th. While the invite doesn’t mention the motive of the event, it is expected that the Surface Go series could be launched for the Indian market. Microsoft’s Indian website also lists the Surface Go as ‘coming soon’, indicating an imminent launch.

If launched in the market, the Surface Go could be starting at the $399 price similar to international model’s price. Therefore, at approximately Rs 30,000, it could go head-to-head with the Apple iPad (2018), which was launched earlier this year. The Surface Go runs on Windows 10 S, which is a restricted version of the full-blown Windows 10. Windows 10 S only lets you run apps from the Microsoft Store; however, you can upgrade to the PC version of Windows 10.

The Surface Go is essentially a 10-inch tablet that’s built around an Intel Pentium Gold Processor along with 4GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB of EMMC storage/128GB of SSD. It sports a 10-inch 1800x1200 resolution touchscreen display with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Connectivity options include a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Surface Connect port, a Surface Type Cover Port and a MicroSDXC Card Reader. There’s an 8MP rear camera with autofocus that can record up to 1080p videos. The front 5MP camera is responsible for Windows Hello facial recognition. It also features 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Audio Premium.
