Apple TV remote tipped to feature iPhone-style Taptic Engine
The feature will be activated while browsing through the menu or accessing the Home screen and others.
It seems that Apple didn’t just revamp the Apple TV set-top-box, but also gave an overhaul to the remote. According to the latest information that surfaced on the internet ahead of the launch, the remote is getting an iPhone-style taptic engine for haptic feedback.
A Twitter post by developer Guilherme Rambo shows what he found after examining the leaked tvOS 11 firmaware. The picture shows reference to “actuator calibration,” “force calibration” and “Vibe Waveforms,” which means the next Apple TV remote will come with haptic feedback.

MacRumors’ report suggests that the new Remote will have a Taptic Engine that will offer touch-based feedback. The feature will be activated while browsing through the menu or accessing the Home screen and others.
Another report from Apple Insider suggests that the current Apple TV remote comprises of a touch surface seen on the MacBooks, and doesn’t offer vibration on taps or on-screen activities.
There are several leaks about the fifth-generation Apple TV surfacing over the internet. If the rumours are to be believed, the device is going to debut as “Apple TV 4K” to denote its support for ultra high definition content. All rumours and reports will be put to rest once the company makes it official at its annual event.
