Samsung to probably unveil a stretchable display tomorrow

The flexible display can be curved, bended or rolled in both sides, above and below.

Stretchable displays are the next version of the flexible display market, which includes curved and rollable displays.

Samsung is rumoured to unveil a stretchable display concept at a conference in the US tomorrow. According to Yonhap News, Samsung will reveal a 9.1-inch stretchable organic LED panel that can be stretched in any way.

According to Samsung Display spokesperson, current flexible OLED is only able to be transformed in only one side whereas the stretchable OLED can be transformed — whether curved, bent or rolled — in both sides, above and below. Stretchable displays are the next version of the flexible display market, which includes curved and rollable displays. The display would be able to up to 12 mm, either way, i.e curved, bent or rolled.

However, a spokesperson from the Korean tech giant also made it clear that the tech is in its early stages and could take the time to find a place in commercially available smartphones.
