BenQ unveils a 240Hz gaming monitor
The BenQ ZOWIE XL2540 monitor is aimed for the gaming community with a fast refresh rate and DyAc technology.
BenQ is a well-known name in the world of displays and their latest product certainly shows their prowess in the field of monitors. The BenQ ZOWIE XL2540 is a monitor aimed at gaming enthusiasts with its fast 240Hz refresh rate and BenQ’s proprietary DyAc technology.
For starters, the monitor utilises a 24.5-inch 1980 x 1020 pixels panel that can show 16.7 million colours. Since gamers require the best visual performance, the monitor comes with a dynamic contrast ratio of 1000:1 and brightness levels of up to 320 cd/m2. Unfortunately, the monitor does not have support for NVIDIA’s G-Sync or AMD’s FreeSync dynamic refresh rate technologies.
BenQ’s DyAc technology helps to reduce motion blur by providing backlight throbbing. The ZOWIE XL2540/XL2546 also has a Black eQualizer that increases the brightness of dark areas without oversaturating the bright areas, an option to quickly increase colour vibrancies, a special external controller to activate different settings and profiles rapidly, as well as a light-shielding hood. For connectivity, the monitor has a DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI, DVI-DL to connect to host PCs and an integrated three-port USB hub. The monitor is priced at $549 (Rs 35,000) with no announcement of an India launch yet.
