Google is rolling out Gemini-powered AI image generator in Google Docs, letting its users add visuals for their write ups.
This feature is similar to Microsoft's AI-generated art features that are seen in its office products.
The image generator in Google Docs is currently available to paid workshop accounts such as Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium and Google One AI premium add-ons.
To use this feature, users have to go to Help me create an image option, which can be found in that Image option under insert. This will result in a “Create an image” sidebar where you can type in a description of what you like. It also provides an “Art Style” option, letting you choose options such as “Photography” or “Sketch”.
Users can opt for square, horizontal or vertical aspect ratios for the images to fit into the document. Using Gemini in Docs users can also create full cover images that span across a pageless document.
To create images in Docs, Google uses its latest Imagen 3 generator, which Google claims to offer better detail, richer lighting, and fewer distracting artworks.
This feature has been rolled out to rapid release domains on November 15 but could take 15 days for the feature to appear. Meanwhile for scheduled Release domains, this feature will be rolled out on December 16, 2024.
